15 applicants for judicial vacancy

Interviews are scheduled May 8 at the Duval County Courthouse.

The 4th Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission received 15 applications for the vacancy created by the appointment of Duval County Judge Meredith Charbula to the circuit court:

Janet Abel is an attorney in the state Office of Regional Conflict Counsel.

Melina Buncome is an assistant public defender.

Jeffrey Davenport is general counsel for the Clay County Sheriff's Office.

Michael Fackler is a shareholder at Milam Howard Nicandri Gillam & Renner.

Margaret Gulliford is an assistant state attorney.

Monique Hawkins is a partner at Quintarios, Prieto, Wood & Boyer.

Octavius Holliday Jr. is an assistant state attorney.

James Kallaher is managing partner at Kallaher, DeLuca & Naughton.

Barry Newman is a partner at Spohrer & Dodd.

Rhonda Peoples-Waters is president of Rhonda Peoples-Waters PA.

Alphonse Perkins is an assistant public defender.

W. Bradley Russell Jr. is an associate attorney at Foley & Lardner.

R. Anthony Salem is an assistant general counsel for the City of Jacksonville.

Julie Taylor is general counsel for the 4th Judicial Circuit.

David Tucker is regional counsel for the Florida Department of Children and Families.

The applicants will be interviewed by the nine-member commission from 9:30 a.m to 3 p.m. May 8 at the Duval County Courthouse. The commission will submit six nominees to Gov. Ron DeSantis, who will have 60 days to select one of the nominess for appointment, or he may request additional nominees.

The interviews are open to the public; the commission's deliberations are confidential.
