Two companies filed notices in the past week indicating they are closing their Jacksonville facilities and laying off employees.
Atlanta-based payments technology InComm said in a Workers Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act filing Monday it is closing its Southside facility by July 1, affecting 125 workers.
Last week, COEI LLC said in a WARN notice it will close its Northside facility by June 19, affecting 39 employees.
“The reason for these layoffs is the outsourcing of call center operations currently performed at this facility,” InComm said in a letter to city and state officials.
“It is our understanding that displaced employees will have the opportunity to apply for positions with the new call center provider,” it said. However, it gave no other details.
InComm moved into its facility at 8935 Prominence Parkway in 2013.
COEI closing
COEI’s letter said it is closing its facility at 11084 Cabot Commerce Circle because of “the cessation of a contract.”
The 39 jobs are listed as “driver associates.”
Officials of the company did not respond to phone messages last week but according to employment listings posted on the internet, COEI is a delivery service provider for Amazon.
COEI’s address also is the Amazon delivery station in North Jacksonville.
State records show it is owned by a company in Lake Mary.
