26 applicants for appellate court vacancies

The 1st District Court of Appeal Judicial Nominating Commission received 26 applications for the vacancies created by the elevations of Judges Allen Winsor and T. Kent Wetherell II to the federal court in North Florida.

Seven of the applicants are from Duval County:

• Laura Boeckman, an assistant state attorney general and chief of the North Florida Consumer Protection Bureau.

• Craig Feiser, a city assistant general counsel and interin director of the Public Accountability Office.

• Gilbert Feltel Jr., a city assistant general counsel and independent agency counsel.

• Bryan Gowdy, a partner at Creed & Gowdy.

• Jennifer Shoaf Richardson, an associate attorney at Jackson Lewis.

• 4th Circuit Judge Eric Roberson.

• Cristine Russell, a partner at Rogers Towers.

The commission has been asked by Gov. Ron DeSantis to provide by Aug. 30 up to six nominees for the two vacancies.

Convening in Tallahasse, the 1st District appellate court hears appeals from the circuit courts in 32 North Florida counties, as well as appeals in civil complaints against actions taken by the governor and Legislature.
