The University of North Florida has a new program that makes it faster – and less costly – to obtain a master’s degree.

The UNF+Pathways to Success Program allows qualified students to enroll in graduate studies toward a master’s degree during their junior and senior undergraduate years.

The university has lowered the per-credit-hour rate to $275, a 33% reduction.

The program is available for graduate degrees in English, mechanical engineering, music education, public administration or education with a concentration in athletic administration.

The fields of study were selected based on an anticipated 17% growth in those master’s level occupations by 2026.

Basic eligibility requirements include junior status, completion of at least 15 undergraduate hours in the major and a minimum 3.0 GPA in the major and overall.

Current undergraduate UNF students who are seeking their first bachelor’s degree are eligible. Most qualified students who are enrolled in accelerated bachelor’s to master’s level programs or have been approved to take graduate-level courses are eligible.

Students who recently graduated with a bachelor’s degree also are eligible provided they are admitted into a graduate program within three terms of graduating.

Students admitted and enrolled in an accelerated bachelor’s to master’s track may be eligible for the UNF+Pathways Scholarship, which may be awarded up to $1,500 per academic year.

“UNF is reducing graduate tuition for eligible UNF students and recent graduates in order to remove some financial roadblocks to obtaining a graduate education,” said UNF spokeswoman Joanna Norris. “The university recognizes the changes in workforce demand with more and more jobs preferring or even requiring a graduate degree.

“UNF believes in our undergraduate students and sought to provide a pathway for students eager to continue and carefully analyzed the cost and benefits of the exclusive tuition rate and is working towards enrollment targets,” she said.
