Spirit Halloween will open Sept. 2 in the former Gander Mountain store at 13075 City Square Drive in River City Marketplace in North Jacksonville.
Spirit Halloween will lease part of the building.
The city is reviewing a permit application for a $188,698 conversion of almost 40,000 square feet of space for future tenant use.
Burlington Stores Inc. is building out the rest of the structure, also at 40,000 square feet, at a cost of more than $2.5 million. Gander Mountain occupied almost 82,000 square feet plus outdoor sales space.
The city calculated a mobility fee of $104,712 for development of a 13,500-square-foot retail center on 1.22 acres at 11105 Lem Turner Road in Northwest Jacksonville.
Knowles Civil Engineering Inc. is the civil engineer. Krizm Realty Inc. is listed as the property owner on the application.
The site is east of Lem Turner Road and south of Dunn Avenue. The application does not specify the type of retail planned.
The city issued a permit for Spartina 449, a South Carolina-based coastal-themed women’s clothing and accessories company, to prepare 2,125 square feet of space in St. Johns Town Center at a cost of $118,000.
The store expects to open in October.
