Fourth Judicial Circuit Chief Judge Mark Mahon ordered the Duval County Courthouse closed Tuesday and Wednesday after the Monday Labor Day holiday because of Hurricane Dorian.
The state Supreme Court closed the courts in St. Johns County on Tuesday and Wednesday after the Labor Day holiday because of the hurricane.
After the storm passes, orders will be issued by the Court retroactively extending deadlines in affected areas.
The Duval County Clerk of Courts offices at the courthouse and the Beaches branch also will be closed on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Attorneys and others who missed legal deadlines or hearing dates in areas affected by hurricane-related closures will be protected by the orders, which will be issued after the courts in those areas reopen. The orders will be posted on the Administrative Orders page at floridasupremecourt.org when issued.
Courts in Clay and Nassau counties are also closed Tuesday.
