Culver’s restaurant is coming to southwest Jacksonville.

Wisconsin-based Culver’s is bringing its ButterBurgers, frozen custard and cheese curds to Collins Town Center at southwest Interstate 295 and Collins Road.

The city is reviewing building and civil plans for construction of a Culver’s restaurant at 7923 Parramore Road at a cost of $1.45 million.

The first Northeast Florida Culver’s opened in July in Middleburg in Clay County and franchisees also are looking at sites in St. Johns and Nassau counties and additional sites in Duval.

Jacksonville-based Murphy Land and Retail Services Inc. represents Culver’s in its area site search.

In Collins Town Center, civil plans show the proposed 4,096-square-foot project with a drive-thru is planned on 1.05 acres. The permit application shows interior space of 3,546 square feet.

McCon Building Corp. of Highland, Wisconsin, is shown as the contractor and Kimley-Horn and Associates Inc. of Jacksonville is the civil engineer.

In November, the city issued a concurrency reservation certification for the project.

The restaurants are owned by franchisees.

Murphy said in May his company is the preferred area broker for Culver’s Franchising System LLC and the corporate real estate department. He envisions 12 to 15 Culver’s in three years in the Jacksonville area.

Culver’s generally seeks 1.2-acre sites for 4,400-square-foot free-standing restaurants, he said.
