Newk’s Eatery closed its Town Center Promenade restaurant, a little more than two years after it opened.

The Jackson, Mississippi-based fast-casual chain continues to operate four Jacksonville locations in North and South Jacksonville and in Mandarin.

The 4520 Town Center Parkway location opened in July 2017.

“This physical location has closed, and we have consolidated our restaurant operations to our location at The Avenues on Southside Boulevard,” says a recorded message on the Newk’s phone number.

The fast-casual bakery-café operates at 9047 Southside Blvd. at Southside Square, north of The Avenues mall, as well as at 14964 Max Leggett Parkway in the Parkway Shops; 6025 Butler Point Road in Galleria Marketplace; and 11112 San Jose Blvd. in Claire Lane Center.

Newk’s did not respond to questions over the weekend.

The cafes generally operate from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., although the hours vary by location.

Newk’s Eatery says it operates and franchises more than 120 restaurants in 16 states.

Newk’s Chief Development Officer Chris Cheek spoke in January 2015 at the International Council of Shopping Centers North Florida Idea Exchange.

He told members that 60% of Newk’s Eatery’s sales are generated at lunch, 30% at dinner and 10% from catering.

Don Newcomb, Debra Bryson and Chris Newcomb founded Newk’s in 2004. They previously founded McAlister’s Deli in 1989 in Oxford, Mississippi, and sold their interest in 2001.

Newk’s Eatery’s menu includes sandwiches, soups, salads, pizzas, desserts and more.
