The Florida Bar Foundation is seeking applicants for seats on its board of directors for terms starting in July.
Eighteen members of the board will be selected in equal portions by the state Supreme Court, The Florida Bar board of governors and the foundation’s board. Six of the 18 at-large seats will be for three-year terms beginning July 1.
Applications for positions to be filled by the Supreme Court and the Bar Foundation can be completed at TheFloridaBarFoundation.org/board. They also may be requested by calling The Florida Bar Foundation at (800) 541-2195.
Completed applications must be received by the Foundation by Feb. 1.
The Florida Bar will give separate notice for the positions to be filled by its board of governors.
The Florida Bar Foundation board embraces the concept that a diverse membership makes the board stronger and its work for the foundation more relevant.
The Foundation strongly encourages minorities and persons with disabilities to apply for service on the board. To help achieve the broadest participation, The Florida Bar Foundation “Expense Reimbursement Policy” provides modest reimbursement of reasonable out-of-pocket expenses incurred during board service for attorney members, and full reimbursement of reasonable out-of-pocket expenses incurred during board service for public members and members of the judiciary.
• Stefano Portigliatti of Coker Law in Jacksonville was voted into the Board of Regents of the Academy of Truck Attorneys. Born in Sao Paulo, Brazil, Portigliatti graduated from Florida Coastal School of Law and was admitted to The Florida Bar in 2013.
• Also at Coker Law, Seth Roebuck joined the firm and will focus his practice on plaintiff’s personal injury law. A graduate of Florida State University and Florida Coastal School of Law, he was admitted to The Florida Bar in September.
