People who enjoy drinking an adult beverage while strolling through the aisles of a grocery store now have another place to do that.
The Winn-Dixie at 1209 Atlantic Blvd. in Neptune Beach is offering eight beers and 12 wines, as well as other beverage and meal options.
The addition to the store is part of the national chain’s WD’s Taproom concept, which includes pub-style seating areas with flat screen TV’s. The beers, including local craft brews, will be available for $2 a pint. Wine — red, white and sparkling — will cost $3 for a 5-ounce glass.
The Neptune Beach store has scheduled a grand opening for the Taproom from 5-7 p.m. Friday and is offering a free 32-ounce growler to the first 50 customers. The event will include live music, beer trivia, local craft brewers and giveaways.
However, the Taproom was already open as of Tuesday afternoon.
The Taproom also offers coffee and fountain drinks for 99 cents, meals starting at $5 and to-go growlers ranging from $8 to $22. The concept is part of the Neptune Beach store remodel, which started in August.
Winn-Dixie is operated by Southeastern Grocers Inc., which also is the parent company of Bi-Lo, Fresco y Más and Harveys Supermarket.
