After announcing its plans in June to build Brooklyn Place, The Ferber Co. bought land at 54 May St. and construction will begin next week.
The 0.86-acre property sold for $1,093,593. Brooklyn Place is expected to be completed and available for tenants by the first quarter of next year.
Along with Chipotle, Panera and Bento, there was a vacant 1,520-square-foot space in the plans. Tallahassee-based Chop Barbershop will fill the space, said Tom Mundy, Ferber vice president of retail and development services.
According to its website, Chop Barbershop offers haircuts for men, women and children in “a hip, clean barbershop environment.” It also offers clients a complimentary beer.
Mundy said he wanted a tenant that fit in within the neighborhood and with a low parking demand.
He sees the 11,500-square-foot Brooklyn Place as a “phase three” of the development at Brooklyn Station.
“There’s a lot of activity going on Downtown, and we’re happy to be part of that growth,” Mundy said.
Ferber, through 2018 Leila Jax LLC, bought the property Monday from Mills Brian Smith, Kent Arthur Smith and Melinda Smith Clardy.
