Auto dealer Terry Taylor intends to develop the Pickettville Chrysler Dodge Ram Jeep dealership in West Jacksonville.

The city is reviewing a permit application for construction of the almost 51,000-square-foot project on 9.8 acres at 7030 Commonwealth Ave. at a cost of $8.5 million.

The location is at southwest Commonwealth and Interstate 295, near Pickettville Road.

No contractor is listed. Dasher Hurst Architects is the architect.

The permit shows the design of a dealership that includes a car showroom with front offices, customer lounge and service drive with a service shop.

The plan shows a Chrysler Dodge Ram showroom and a Jeep showroom.

In February, TT of Pickettville Inc. bought the property for $4 million from N.G. Wade Investment Co. The company is led by Terry Taylor, listed in state records as president and director.

Taylor, based in West Palm Beach, leads two other companies that own dealerships in Jacksonville.

TT of Duval Inc. owns the Jacksonville Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram dealership in Arlington at 9600 Atlantic Blvd., a former Toys R Us store it bought in 2011. It expanded on that site.

TT of Jacksonville Inc. owns the Jacksonville Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram Fiat at 11101 Nurseryfields Drive in Southeast Jacksonville. The three-story dealership was built in 2004 at northeast I-95 and Baymeadows Road.

The Pickettville project has been in review. In January, the Jacksonville Planning Commission approved a minor modification to the Pickettville Road planned unit development to revise the site plan for an automobile dealership.

JEA issued a service availability letter Feb. 25 for a 54,000-square-foot automobile dealership.

The Automotive News industry trade publication reported in March 2018 that Taylor owns about 120 U.S. dealerships, mostly in the Southeast.
