Chipotle Mexican Grill announced Monday it plans to open Florida’s first “Chipotlane” at its new restaurant in Oakleaf Town Center.

A “Chipotlane” is a drive-through where customers can pick up orders made via the internet or smartphone without getting out of their vehicle. Unlike a traditional drive-through, where you talk to an employee, all orders are made digitally.

Chipotle will open Nov. 25 at 9671 Argyle Forest Blvd., the company said in a news release. The restaurant will be open 10:45 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.

The grand opening celebration will include “swag” for the first 50 customers in line.

Chipotle plans to have several dozen Chipotlanes open throughout the country by end of year.

According to its website, this will be the ninth Chipotle in the Jacksonville area. Another is under construction at Brooklyn Place, the third phase of the Brooklyn Station development along Riverside Avenue.

Chipotle says as of June 3, it has 2,500 restaurants in the U.S., Canada, the United Kingdom, France and Germany. Its restaurants average 25 employees.
