Gov. Ron DeSantis appointed two local attorneys to judicial nominating commissions:

Travis Mydock, principal of Mydock Law in St. Johns, is appointed to the 7th Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission for the remainder of a term that expires July 1.

M. Scott Thomas, a partner at Burr & Forman and a Ponte Vedra resident, is reappointed to the 5th District Court of Appeal Judicial Nominating Commission for a term ending July 1, 2023.

Federal public defender opportunity

If you're an attorney practicing in Jacksonville and seeking a change of scenery, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit is looking to appoint a federal public defender for the Middle District of Florida in the Tampa office. The annual salary is $166,500.
