The Davis Family and The PARC Group announced Wednesday they will donate 5.5 acres to K9s For Warriors so the nonprofit can build a training facility at its headquarters in Nocatee.

The parcel is at U.S. 1, Nocatee Parkway and Racetrack Road. The organization’s headquarters are about a mile from the site.

K9s For Warriors pairs veterans with PTSD, brain injury or trauma with service dogs, helping them transition back into civilian life.

The training facility will be the largest of its kind and will allow the organization to take in 400 additional dogs a year, according to a news release. It will house the service dogs, and serve as a hub for incoming dogs. It’s K9 For Warriors’ first canine-focused facility.

The organization will break ground on the project this fall.

In 2014, the Davis family and The PARC Group donated 9 acres for the organization’s training facility off Palm Valley Road. It opened in 2015. The project, including $8 million in construction costs, was paid for by community donations.

Jed Davis is the president of DDI Inc. and Roger O’Steen is founder and chairman of The PARC Group.
