JaxPort announced Sunday evening that its terminals will close Monday morning to incoming vessels because of Hurricane Dorian.
Incoming vessels, including tugs and barges, are prohibited from entering the port, JaxPort said.
Outgoing vessels must leave the port 12 hours before the arrival of sustained gale force winds. Ship-to-shore cargo operations must cease 6 hours before.
“The safety of the public and our stakeholders is our No. 1 priority as we continue to closely monitor Dorian and prepare for any potential impacts,” said JaxPort CEO Eric Green.
“I encourage everyone to follow the direction of the U.S. Coast Guard and emergency management officials as we all work together to keep our port community safe.”
Updates will be posted on JaxPort.com and on JaxPort’s social media channels.
