By Elizabeth Ferguson, JBA president
As we all continue to monitor the developments and responses to COVID-19 across the country and the world, I want to let you know the Jacksonville Bar Association is open for business.
We are ready to assist our members and the local legal community while also practicing responsible social distancing as recommended by health officials worldwide
The JBA has worked for the past few years to have strong remote capabilities and we will be using those to provide seamless service and the latest information.
We endeavor to provide updates on court postponements and closings as well as the impact of the orders and restrictions coming down on the state and federal levels as quickly as possible.
We will continue to keep you apprised of developments as information is shared with us. We also are working to move our previously scheduled in-person events to an electronic format, including CLEs.
Follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram or visit jaxbar.org/page/JBAUpdates.
As we continue to see depositions, mediations and hearings postponed, I ask that we continue to have patience and grace in dealing with these difficulties and with one another.
To the extent such activities can occur telephonically, we encourage proceeding with those activities. But, where face-to-face interaction is required, those will need to be postponed for our own safety and the safety of others.
If there is any way the JBA can assist you and your practice, reach out to me ([email protected]) or JBA Executive Director Craig Shoup ([email protected]).
I hope you and your families stay safe and healthy.
