Gordon Steadman, vice president of business development for Danis Construction LLC, said that clients are moving with caution.
He said April 5 the majority of Danis’s projects are ongoing, and he doesn’t see that changing – yet.
“I trust we will be back to full speed soon. The sooner we are at full operation, the sooner the recovery,” Steadman said.
He does predict the hospitality market will face a long-term recovery.
“I have been in the industry for 35 years and have lived through several downturns. This is unprecedented,” he said.
Steadman said Danis has been in business for 104 years and has weathered downturns with a strategic plan in place for recovery.
“This is different for our industry and the world,” he said.
“The economy was doing great with positive projections this year. No one in business ever thought a virus would effect this type of situation.”
He said contractors, like all industries, are on high alert and following the regulations set by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and local, state and federal agencies.
“The workforce is adapting to the new normal and with our in-place safety programs it was an easy transition,” he said.
Steadman said Danis’s Southeast workforce has not changed.
The timing of country’s return to business “will be the telling signs for future projects,” he said.
Steadman predicts a recovery for 2020 and a bullish future.
