There’s evidence that the hotel business in Jacksonville continues to recover amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic shutdown and there was a bright spot one day in August.
The occupancy percentage and number of rooms sold Aug. 15 were higher than the same day in 2019, according to data provided by Visit Jacksonville, the destination marketing firm for Jacksonville and the Beaches.
Overall, hotels reported less business than last year for the week of Aug. 9-15.
Occupancy for the week was 57.8%, which was 20.7% less than the same week in 2019.
Total room revenue was $5.8 million, $2.6 million less than 2019.
For the month ended Aug. 15, occupancy was down nearly 26% and room revenue was down 36.4% compared to the same period in 2019.
