The Daily’s Foundation announced Dec. 9 that it made a $5 million contribution to Nemours Children’s Health System, Jacksonville, the largest gift the hospital has received.
In a ceremony Dec. 9, Nemours dedicated the Southbank hospital’s pavilion as The Daily’s Foundation Pavilion in honor of the gift.
The $5 million donation will be used to enhance facilities in the Jacksonville hospital and help fund innovations to improve care with a focus on the Nemours Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders.
The center is one of two pediatric National Cancer Institute Community Oncology Research Programs in the U.S. The program serves patients at Nemours locations in Jacksonville, Orlando and Wilmington, Delaware.
Nemours Children’s Specialty Care Jacksonville is at 807 Childrens Way on the Downtown Southbank.
“Daily’s primary community focus has always been the health and well-being of children and families,” Aubrey Edge, president and CEO of Daily’s, said in a news release.
“With this partnership, we are taking that commitment to a new level that Nemours Children’s Health System is uniquely qualified to fulfill. As our relationship with (Nemours CEO) Dr. Larry Moss and the Nemours organization has grown, so has our desire to support their incredible work for children’s healthcare.” he said.
Gov. Ron DeSantis, Mayor Lenny Curry, Moss and Edge attended the dedication.
Daily’s has made other contributions to the hospital. In 2019, it held its Charity Concert at Daily’s Place, raising $500,000 for Nemours, St. Vincent’s Mobile Health Outreach Ministry and K9s for Warriors.
In October, the Daily’s Foundation donated $350,000 to the hospital through proceeds from its charity golf tournament.
“With the support of partners like Aubrey Edge and Daily’s, we are committed to redefining the health of children,” Moss said in the news release.
“Together we will transform the experience of care for children and families in Jacksonville, as well as our city’s skyline with the unveiling of the Daily’s pavilion. We are deeply grateful for this hometown partnership of our two organizations.”
