Brio Tuscan Grille closed Jan. 24 in The Markets at Town Center, Brio spokesman Steven Coe confirmed Jan. 30.
A sign was posted on the front door of the restaurant. “We have made the difficult decision to close this restaurant,” it read. “Thank you for giving us the opportunity to serve you through the years!”
Coe said several factors could have contributed to the closing, including commercial changes in the area around the restaurant and lack of traffic in the restaurant.
Brio Tuscan Grille opened in 2012 at 4910 Big Island Drive. It leases the building.
Employees will be given the option to transfer to another Brio location or taking severance. The closest Brio location is in Orlando.
Brio Tuscan Grille operates 12 locations in Florida. FoodFirst owns Brio Tuscan Grille and Bravo Italian Cucina. Three Bravo locations closed in Florida in the past year, including two stores in Jupiter and Sarasota that closed this month.
Blackfinn Ameripub closed its leased stand-alone building in October 2018 at 4840 Big Island Drive in The Markets at Town Center. Blackfinn opened in 2010. It remains vacant.
Kelly Pulignano and Stephanie McCullough with The Shopping Center Group represent Hines, the landlord, on the Brio Tuscan Grille and Blackfinn buildings.
"We are currently in active negotiations to backfill both properties," Pulignano said Jan. 30.
"We have had consistently strong interest on both buildings but have been very selective on which groups to proceed with. We want concepts that will be an upgrade to the center and complement to the submarket."
