In the week that ended July 4, Duval County hotel operators saw a small drop in room occupancy compared with the previous week.
That’s typical because a national holiday during the week means there is less business travel and fewer convention bookings, according to data provided by Visit Jacksonville, the convention and visitors bureau for Jacksonville and the Beaches.
Properties at the Beaches had the highest occupancy, but it was lower than last year. Westside properties had the least loss in occupancy and revenue per available room.
Month-to-date occupancy will end about 54%, which is 29.2% below last year. Room revenue will be down about $16 million compared with June 2019.
