Clay County awarded $492,035 in federal COVID-19 relief funding to 16 nonprofits that provide goods and services to people impacted by the pandemic.
All expenses are directly related to COVID-19 relief as outlined by the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act.
The eligible expenses include building retrofits to minimize spread of the virus; expanding telework capabilities; providing food, personal protective equipment, cleaning supplies, school supplies, mental and behavioral health services; and for employee and facility costs.
The nonprofits served through the first round of funding include: BASCA, Challenge Enterprises, Clay Behavioral, Clay County Educational Foundation, Evangel Temple, Green Cove Springs Food Pantry, Hunger Fight, Lake Area Ministries, Middleburg Methodist Food Bridge, Mission of the Dirt Road, Operation Barnabus, Pace Center for Girls, Quigley House, Way Free, Woman’s Empowerment and the YMCA.
Nearly $276,000 in grants remain available to Clay County-based nonprofits.

Applications will be accepted until Sept. 8 or until the remaining grants are distributed.
