• Pet Paradise named Claudia Sáenz Amlie the company’s first chief people officer to the company’s human resources organization. Pet Paradise is a Jacksonville-based pet care provider offering boarding, day camp, grooming and veterinary services with 50 locations in operation or under development across the U.S. It intends to open seven this year. Amlie previously was chief human resources officer at Acosta Inc., where she oversaw more than 25,000 employees in 100 offices across North America.
• The Jacksonville Historical Society appointed Kristanna Broward Barnes to its board of directors. Barnes, a seventh-generation Jacksonville native, is the daughter of late Jacksonville architect Robert Broward and the late Marjorie Broward. Barnes is co-owner of Wick: A Candle Bar in San Marco with her son, Hampton Barnes. She served on the Duval County School Board from 2000-08.
• VyStar Credit Union hired Allie Braswell Jr. as vice president of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, a newly created position to strengthen VyStar’s ability to promote equality. Braswell is responsible for planning and directing all aspects of VyStar’s diversity programs involved in recruiting, retaining and training a talented, diverse workforce. Braswell previously held management-level positions in information technology, global diversity and inclusion, and corporate social responsibility at organizations such as The Walt Disney Co., Mayo Clinic and ACS State & Local Solutions.
• Mary Ann Callahan became the board chair of Junior Achievement of North Florida starting July 1 through June 30, 2022. She is the production executive for the centralized and online retail auto sales team for Bank of America. Callahan previously served on the executive committee as vice chair and secretary. She joined the board as a member in 2016 and chaired the $mart Women Make Change fundraising event to support the JA Girl$ Initiative.
• Jax Federal Credit Union appointed Rodomir Désir to its board of directors. Membership will vote on the appointment at the annual meeting this fall. Désir replaces Mary Jones, who announced her retirement. Désir is the pharmacy manager of Ascension St. Vincent’s Southside Outpatient Pharmacy.
• Dan Edelman joined the UF Health Proton Therapy Institute board of directors for a three-year term. He will serve on the finance committee. Edelman is a principal of Heritage Capital Group, an investment banking and financial advisory firm.
• Marva Johnson joined the Jacksonville 2020 Host Committee that is leading the efforts to host the Republican National Convention. Johnson, who worked on the 2012 Tampa Convention, has more than 20 years in the communications industry. She is group vice president for state government affairs of Charter Communications’ Southern Region.
• The Museum of Science & History appointed Jane Scofield as its chief financial officer. She most recently served as CFO for 121 Financial Credit Union where she was responsible for the accounting, finance and human resources teams. Before that, she was the principal and director of business advisory services at Ennis, Pellum & Associates, CPAs.
• Angela Timberlake will join JAXUSA Partnership, the economic development division of JAX Chamber, as vice president of Elevate Women, to address identified gender gaps in Northeast Florida leadership. Timberlake worked with Acosta Sales and Marketing from 2006-18, including as vice president of talent development and effectiveness. She joins JAXUSA after starting her own business, Brilliant Leadership Group, an executive coaching and development firm.
• Greg Voss became CEO of Seamark Ranch, replacing Fred Meiners after nearly 15 years of service. Voss most recently was vice president with the St. Johns County Chamber of Commerce. Seamark Ranch provides a traditional home environment for children from families in crisis. The business administrative office is in Jacksonville and the ranch office and school are in Green Cove Springs.
• Leadership Jacksonville announced its 2020-21 officers and new members to its board of directors. The Leadership Jacksonville board of directors is led by:
