Jacksonville-area Cinemark movie theaters will reopen July 3 with precautions in place and a slate of “comeback classics” scheduled the first week.
The theaters will operate with limited hours and staggered showtimes to allow for physical distancing. As part of Florida’s phase two of reopening, movie theaters can operate at 50% capacity.
There are two Cinemark theaters in Jacksonville – Cinemark Tinseltown at 4535 Southside Blvd. and Cinemark Durbin Park at 435 Durbin Pavilion Drive.
The theaters will make seat wipes and hand sanitizer available to guests. The theaters will be sanitized each morning and between shows. High-touch areas will be sanitized every 30 minutes.
Cash payments for concessions will not be accepted. Guests are encouraged to purchase tickets online and do not need to present a paper ticket.
In the week after reopening, the theater will show older movies such as “Ghostbusters,” “Wonder Woman” and “Jurassic Park” until new releases come out starting July 10. The classic films will cost $5 for adults and $3 for children and seniors.
“The reopening of our theatres is going to be a celebration and we invite moviegoers to join us for special welcome back pricing on what we’re calling ‘Comeback Classics,’ as well as traditional concession favorites,” Cinemark CEO Mark Zoradi said in a statement.
There will be reduced pricing on popcorn, candy, fountain drinks and bottled drinks.
