Microsoft Corp. announced June 26 it is permanently closing all of its Microsoft Store physical locations, which include one at St. Johns Town Center.
The software company has a Microsoft Store at 4791 River City Drive in the Southside shopping center.
Since the Microsoft Store locations closed in late March because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the company said it began helping small businesses and education customers digitally transform; virtually trained enterprise and education customers on remote work and learning software; and helped customers with support calls.
“Our sales have grown online as our product portfolio has evolved to largely digital offerings, and our talented team has proven success serving customers beyond any physical location,” said Microsoft Vice President David Porter in the release.
The company will serve customers from Microsoft corporate facilities and remotely provide sales, training and support and invest in its digital storefronts on Microsoft.com and stores in Xbox and Windows, according to a news release.
The company also will “reimagine spaces” that serve all customers, including operating Microsoft Experience Centers in London, New York City, Sydney, Australia, and Redmond, Washington, campus locations.
“It is a new day for how Microsoft Store team members will serve all customers,” Porter said in the release.
“We are energized about the opportunity to innovate in how we engage with all customers, maximize our talent for greatest impact, and most importantly help our valued customers achieve more.”
