Duck Donuts is set to open March 7 in the Shoppes at Bartram Park.
The shop sells doughnuts, coffee and milkshakes. It allows customers to watch their doughnut made from start to finish and customize the toppings.
It’s the Pennsylvania-based chain’s fifth Florida location, following those in Boca Raton, Fort Myers, Kissimmee and Estero. It plans to add stores in Naples and Daytona Beach in the coming months.
It will host a grand-opening celebration at Bartram Park from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 7. The first and 100th customers will receive a prize package, according to a news release.
The shop is at 13820 Old St. Augustine Road, Unit 141, between Jersey Mike’s Subs and Sushi House Japanese Restaurant. The shopping center is off Interstate 95.
The 1,400-square-foot space seats 20 inside, and has some outdoor seating as well.
Lisa Freeze is the store’s general manager. Her brother, Craig Hutchings, is the franchise owner.
“I’ve lived in Jacksonville for 20 years and there’s no made-to-order doughnuts nearby in this area, so I knew it would be something that would take off right away,” Freeze said. “We love all the development and all the housing being built. This shopping center is always so busy all the time. We thought it would be the perfect spot.”
A single doughnut is $1.80 and a dozen goes for $17.50.
Duck Donuts PR Manager Kristin Kellum said stores recently began selling milkshakes. They also serve doughnut sundaes and single scoops of ice cream.
It also serves coffee, lattes, espresso, hot chocolate, teas and frozen frappes. Those range in price from $1.95 for a small coffee to $5.50 for a large frozen frappe.
Kellum said the most popular doughnut flavors are maple bacon and cinnamon sugar.
Duck Donuts will operate 6:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.
