Lakeland-based Publix Super Markets Inc. announced March 27 it is offering rent relief to businesses operating in Publix-owned shopping centers that have closed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Property records show that Publix owns part or all of seven shopping centers in Duval County.
Publix said the relief package includes waiving rent for two months, as well as waiving payments for common area maintenance fees and taxes, regardless of the tenant’s access to other relief or assistance.
“As a company that started as a small business 90 years ago, Publix wants to help businesses renting from us survive the economic impact of these unexpected closures,” said Publix Director of Communications Maria Brous.
Duval County records list Publix as an owner in Publix Plaza and Arlington River in Arlington; OakLeaf Plantation Center in the Argyle-Oakleaf area; Reedy Branch Commons in Baymeadows; Middle Beach Commons in Jacksonville Beach; Deerwood Village Shopping Center in Deerwood; Duval Station in North Jacksonville and Windsor Commons Shopping Center in South Jacksonville.
Publix owns its store at Dames Pointe, also in Arlington.
