The First Coast YMCA’s 15 branches are set to reopen May 25 for their 48,000 members and 850 employees in Northeast Florida.
Gov. Ron DeSantis announced May 15 gyms could reopen May 18, but the YMCA said it will delay reopening to ensure it is prepared and staff receives safety training to ensure compliance with new policies and procedures.
The YMCA said it plans a three-phase reopening with programs and services that follow health guidance to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
The first phase will not include open gym, swimming lessons and sports for adults or children.
General YMCA hours will be 7 a.m.- 3 p.m.
Phase one guidelines:
• Individual branch hours may vary and special hours provided for older and vulnerable members. Reservations for some programs and classes will be required to limit class size and achieve social distancing.
• Most staff must wear face masks.
• Members and staff will be monitored for their temperature to enter facilities, and social distancing is required by everyone.
• Hand-sanitation stations and equipment disinfectant wipes will be provided.
• Cleaning and disinfectant protocols require only the use of Centers for Disease Control and Prevention cleaners designated against the virus causing COVID-19.
