The St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners approved a land use amendment, rezoning, development agreement modification and amendment to the road capacity charge May 19 for Durbin Park to add a Flagler Health+ medical campus and other changes.

Flagler Health+ plans a 375,000-square-foot medical campus development with 150 beds, offices and potentially an educational component, according to the applicant’s agent, land use attorney Elle Avery-Smith with Rogers Towers.

The Flagler Health+ campus intends to develop the hospital facilities, medical residency programs and educational opportunities in partnership with UF Health.

In addition to the hospital, the master development plan includes 2,265 multifamily units, 1,697,130 square feet of commercial shopping center, 2,276,065 square feet of office and 350 hotel rooms.

The 1,281-acre Durbin Park property in review is south of Race Track Road, east and west of Interstate 95 and Florida 9B.

Jacksonville-based Durbin Creek National LLC , part of Gate Petroleum Co., owns the property.

The applications also changed the phasing of development rights and timing of road improvements to expedite hospital construction anticipated to begin in the summer.
