Indoor racing and ax throwing reopened to walk-in customers in Jacksonville on May 18.
Autobahn Indoor Speedway, at 6601 Executive Park Court N. in South Jacksonville, was the first of nine locations in five states to reopen to walk-in customers.
David Larson, managing partner at Autobahn, said May 18 that opening to walk-in is “going to be the big change this week.”
Autobahn reopened May 6 by reservation with guidance from the Florida government after closing facilities March 17.
Larson said the company laid off more than 90% of staff in March and is gradually bringing them back as business picks up.
Reopening by reservation allowed the company to bring back 15% of staff.
Autobahn notifed the state March 26 that it laid off 62 staff members in Jacksonville effective March 27.
“We are continuing to call staff and have them on standby so as business picks up we can get them back on the job,” Larson said.
Larson said his goal is for Autobahn “to be the safest place in Jacksonville to have fun.”
Autobahn posted a video online at Autobahnspeed.com and on YouTube describing health safety procedures at the facility.
“At this point we are limiting capacity to 25%” of customers for racing, ax throwing, arcade games and the restaurant. The restaurant offers a limited food menu that will grow as business picks up,” he said.
