Lockheed Martin Logistic Services filed a notice with the state last week saying it will lay off 90 employees at Cecil Commerce Center at the end of this year after losing a government contract.

The letter filed under the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act said employees were providing maintenance for the P-3 aircraft at the site on Jacksonville's Westside.

“The current contract under which employees render services at this location will expire on December 31, 2020, and unfortunately Lockheed Martin was not the successful bidder for services under the subsequent contract for P-3 maintenance services at this location,” it said.

The letter said some employees have received job offers from the new vendor which will take over the contract in 2021.

The P-3 is a marine patrol aircraft first built by Lockheed Martin in the 1960s.
