Fidelity National Information Services Inc. will build an eight-level parking garage at its new Riverside Avenue headquarters now that the city issued a permit Nov. 12 for the vertical construction.
Gilbane Building Co. is the contractor for the $8.9 million project that comprises a 552,693-square-foot garage on 4.9 acres at 347 Riverside Ave. in the Brooklyn area of Downtown.
The permit comes soon after the city issued one Oct. 29 for Gilbane to build the 12-story, 386,613-square-foot headquarters.
The FIS permits total $156 million.
The parking garage with 1,647 parking spaces will connect to the office tower on the first and second levels with an air-conditioned garage elevator lobby.
The redevelopment agreement with the city requires that 130 ground-floor spots be available to the public after 6 p.m. weeknights and on Saturday, Sunday and national holidays.
The Riverside Avenue side of the garage will have retail space.
FIS CEO Gary Norcross and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis announced the headquarters project Nov. 1, 2019.
They said FIS will create 500 jobs and retain the company’s 1,216-employee workforce. It now is based nearby along Riverside Avenue.
Plans show Gensler of Tampa as the architect; Hines of Jacksonville as the development manager; and England-Thims & Miller Inc. as the civil engineer.
Lane Gardner, Hines senior managing director, said previously that he expected the project to be completed in June 2022.
The Jacksonville City Council approved a $29.9 million city and state-backed incentives package in September 2019 for FIS.
