Regions Bank will lose its wall signage for its Downtown headquarters facing the parking lot when VyStar Credit Union begins construction on its proposed parking garage next door.

Bank representatives have asked the Downtown Development Review Board to approve a special sign exception for a new rooftop and projecting signs for its 51 W. Bay St. headquarters.

The bank reduced the proposed size of the rooftop sign by 59.32 square feet after a Sept. 10 workshop where several DDRB members called it out of scale with the two-story historic building.

Renderings in the Oct. 8 DDRB packet show the all-green, lit background in the first sign design has changed in favor of a wire mesh holding the traditional Regions branding logo.

DDRB staff has recommended the board approve the latest design.

The DDRB will vote on the changes Oct. 8.
