The Jacksonville-based spice blend manufacturer FreshJax is moving into a new headquarters more than seven times the size of its current space.
CEO Jason McDonald said Oct. 7 the company bought a 22,290-square-foot building at 9000 Cypress Green Drive for $1.5 million. The property is east of Interstate 95 off Baymeadows Road.
It has been leasing a roughly 3,000-square-foot space at 11526 Lake Mead Ave. at southeast I-295 and Gate Parkway.
The new space will house its headquarters and distribution center.
“Southside is our ideal location for our headquarters because it is close to the universities to attract recent graduates and marketing interns and being right off of I-95 and Baymeadows makes for easy distribution,” McDonald said in an email Oct. 7.
FreshJax bought the property from East Arlington Grace Lutheran Church Inc., according to property records.
It previously housed the Jacksonville School for Autism.
FreshJax received a $660,000 mortgage from United Community Bank.
McDonald said building on 3 acres will provide room for the company to grow.
“We have been averaging 100% growth every year and our corporate gifting is starting to take off,” he said.
In June, McDonald said the company was on track to break $6 million in revenue.
It sells individual organic, bottled spice blends along with gift spice blend sets.
McDonald founded the company with his wife, Hillary, in 2011.
