With strict safety and social distancing standards in place, members of the Jacksonville Bar Association have two opportunities to gather this month.
The association will meet from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Oct. 16 at 2 Independent Drive, former site of The Jacksonville Landing, for a barbecue and blood drive.
Lunch, music and miniature golf will be provided.
“We’re the first private group that will have an event there,” said JBA Executive Director Craig Shoup.
The JBA returns to the Omni Jacksonville Hotel at noon Oct. 21 for its first in-person monthly membership meeting since the COVID-19 pandemic began in March.
Seating is limited to 104 participants, because each table will be set for three or four people instead of the previous eight or 10, Shoup said.
Check-in will be touchless and nametags will not be available. Food will be served after each guest is seated and single-use utensils will be provided.
Florida State University College of Law Dean Erin O’Hara O’Connor will give the keynote speech about how COVID-19 is shaping the future of practicing law.
The meeting also will be available online for those who can’t or do not choose to attend.
“We’ve been offering hybrid programs for a while. We want our members to connect with us in whatever way they feel most comfortable,” Shoup said.
