The Ferber Co. is considering redevelopment of a former Wells Fargo bank site in Mandarin for a Whataburger restaurant, according to an application with the city.
The city received a mobility fee calcuation certificate application for a 3,751-square-foot Whataburger on the 1.42-acre site at 10600 San Jose Blvd.
The fee is calculated at $113,606 to support the traffic impact.
The 3,473-square-foot bank, built in 1980, had five teller/ATM lanes.
Ferber paid $1.4 million on April 5 for the property, which is at southwest San Jose Boulevard and Hartley Road, north of Interstate 295.
Tom Mundy, Ferber vice president of development services, said April 7 the highest and best use of the site is as a restaurant with a drive-thru.
“The site is in the heart of Mandarin with great access at a signal and frontage to San Jose Blvd.,” Mundy said by email.
Ferber is based in Ponte Vedra Beach.
