The PARC Group announced Aug. 16 that Publix Super Markets Inc., with a drive-thru pharmacy, will open in early 2023 to anchor a new shopping center in Exchange East in the eTown Village Center.

It said the retail center will be developed through a joint venture with Jacksonville-based Skinner Bros. Realty. The eTown Village Center is east of Florida 9B and Interstate 295 in southern Duval County.

About 48,000 square feet of space will be dedicated to a Publix grocery, Publix Liquors and the pharmacy drive-thru.

Additional retail space and multiple outparcels will add about 40,000 square feet to the center

Jacksonville-based PARC Group said construction is scheduled to begin in late 2021.

“We look forward to bringing these highly anticipated retailers to eTown,” said Michael O’Steen, PARC Group managing director of commercial development, in the release.

“The success of eTown continues to draw interest from popular local and national retailers, and we remain committed to meeting the lifestyle needs of our residents and our growing community.”

PARC Group is the master developer of eTown in conjunction with the Davis family.

“This is just the beginning of what will emerge into a vibrant, village center for the master-planned community,” said Riley Skinner, vice president of Skinner Bros. Realty, in the release.

Jed Davis, president and CEO of the DDI Inc. Davis Family Office, said in the release that PARC Group once again “has done a phenomenal job in developing a premier community for Northeast Florida which now includes delivering the retail environment that will be enjoyed by all residents in the area.”

The eTown master-planned community is built around technology, sustainability and convenience. New homes in eTown start in the mid-$300,000s.

The master-planned eTown community is designed for up to 2,000 homes along E-Town Parkway, east of Florida 9B.

Development agencies have been reviewing the proposed “ETown Grocer Commercial Center,” comprising a 43,387-square-foot grocery store and 12,000 square feet of adjacent retail space along with four outparcels that could add four buildings totaling up to 31,400 square feet.

Developers and Publix did not previously confirm that the grocer will anchor the project although the Lakeland-based chain operates in other PARC centers, including at Nocatee.

The development is in review at the corner of E-Town Parkway between Apex Trail and Exchange Street. The eTown Welcome Center anchors the corner and will be an outparcel.
