Verizon announced Dec. 2 it is launching a new wireless broadband internet service in Jacksonville.

The service works using a receiver that picks up Verizon’s signal and broadcasts it via Wi-Fi.

5G Home offers download speeds of up to 1 Gbps, with typical download speeds of 300 Mbps. Data is unlimited and there is no contract.

Pricing is $50 a month for Verizon customers with a qualifying mobile plan and $70 a month for customers without.

5G Business Internet includes installation, multiple pricing and service options and unlimited data. Pricing is $69 to $199 a month based on speed.

Verizon said business users will receive a 10-year price lock with no long-term contract and up to a $1,500 credit to offset early-termination fees for eligible customers switching to Verizon from another Internet provider.

Verizon, which begin rolling out the service in 2018, says the 5G Home now is available in parts of 62 cities and 5G Business Internet is available in parts of 59 cities.
