Maria Hane, former president of Jacksonville’s Museum of Science & History, will be interim executive director of the Museum of Arts & Sciences in Daytona Beach.

She begins the post Jan. 1, succeeding Executive Director Andrew Sandall.

Hane will remain in the interim role for at least six months while the museum’s board of trustees conducts a nationwide search for its next director, according to a Dec. 20 news release.

“Andrew is leaving an impressive legacy of leadership and I’m thrilled for the opportunity to carry it forward while the board searches for the next Museum Director to take the helm. I am passionate about museums and their role in communities, and look forward to being a part of the Daytona Beach community,” Hane said in the release.

Hane was president of MOSH from 2009 until August 2020. She led a multiyear research and community input process that resulted in a capital campaign to fund the development of a new museum on the Northbank Downtown.

Before MOSH, Hane was deputy director of operations at the Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens and director of written communications for former Jacksonville Mayor John Delaney.
