The Florida Family Law American Inn of Court is working with the Jacksonville Humane Society to benefit animals transitioning out of the shelter and into new homes.

The JHS is a no-kill animal shelter working in conjunction with the city Animal Care and Protective Services department.

Throughout the year, the Inn partners with local charities to increase awareness of community needs and to encourage support of the charities.

In addition to monetary donations, JHS will accept wet or dry cat and dog foods, including kitten and puppy varieties, as well as treats, towels, blankets without stuffing, small and medium pet beds and paper towels.

Amazon gift cards also are a way to support JHS in its resupplying efforts.

Whether picked up as strays or voluntarily relinquished by owners, thousands of pets are placed in the care of JHS every year.

The nonprofit feeds, rehabilitates and nurtures them until they are placed with an adoptive household at an impressive rate of 94%.

Such outcomes are not achieved without costs and expenses.  JHS must provide vaccines, spay and neuter surgeries, heartworm disease treatments, etc., before placement in nearly every case.

Last year, JHS took in and provided care and treatment for nearly 6,000 animals, incurring an average expense of $1,580 for every dog and $715 for every cat adopted.

Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, JHS is making donations of items and supplies easy and contact-free. Cash donations will be credited in your name or the name of your business, per your instruction.

Checks should be made out to: Jacksonville Humane Society.
