Buc-ee’s will open its first Florida travel center at 6 a.m. Feb. 22 in St. Augustine, the company announced Feb. 11.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for 11 a.m. that day.
The 104-pump, 52,600-square-foot gas station and convenience store is at 200 World Commerce Parkway near World Golf Village off Interstate 95.
Buc-ee’s will employ 200 full-time employees with full benefits, a 401(k) and three weeks of vacation.
“Picking St. Augustine for our first Florida location made sense for many reasons, but its proximity to our other locations across the South was our initial motivator. Location aside, our owners fell in love with the rich history and warm hospitality of St. Augustine,” said Stan Beard Buc-ee’s director of real estate, in a news release.
It offers “thousands of snack, meal and drink options for travelers on the go,” the release said.
Popular food items include Texas barbecue, homemade fudge, kolaches, beaver nuggets, jerky and fresh pastries.
Another Buc-ee’s is under construction in Daytona Beach on the northeast side of the I-95/LPGA Boulevard interchange. It is expected to open next month, the release said.
Buc-ee’s says it has 38 stores in Texas and began expanding outside the state in 2019. It also has stores in Loxley, Leeds and Robertsdale, Alabama, and in Fort Valley, Georgia. Another is under development in Florence, South Carolina.
Buc-ee’s bought the St. Johns County site in November 2017.
