TD Bank announced July 14 that it will bring more than 250 jobs to Northeast Florida over two years, including the 200 customer service and operations positions it reported the day before.

TD Bank said it employs about 440 people in Jacksonville and more than 2,300 across the state.

The New Jersey-based financial institution said it leased 30,031 square feet of office space for the new operations center in Deerwood North and will renovate the space over the next year.

The space will be near TD’s local 24,490 square feet of leadership offices and retail space at 9715 Gate Parkway N.  The retail branch accounts for 7,260 square feet.

TD Bank said it will bring new retail branches to the area, creating the additional jobs.

The bank said it currently operates 10 stores in North Florida and a total of 153 statewide.

“Florida is experiencing growth unlike any other state in the country and the addition of our new operations center and the enhancements we’re making to our store network are investments in the Florida Market for years to come,” said Nick Miceli, TD Bank Regional President, Florida Metro, in a news release.

“We believe the state’s growth could support up to 30 new retail locations over the next five years. We look forward to continuing our commitment in the area as a growth company.”

The release included comments from Gov. Ron DeSantis, Mayor Lenny Curry and JAXUSA Partnership President Aundra Wallace.

"“We believe the state’s growth could support up to 30 new retail locations over the next five years," said Nick Miceli, TD Bank Regional President, Florida Metro.

“Jacksonville has become a hub for the financial services industry, and I am proud to see even more job growth in the area with today’s announcement from TD Bank,” DeSantis said.

TD Bank said in the release that it also made significant investments in the local community. In 2020, the TD Charitable Foundation awarded $2.7 million in grants in Florida.

“This announcement of TD Bank’s expansion and creation of 250 new jobs adds to Jacksonville’s already great momentum as a leading destination for the financial services industry,” Curry said.

“The Jacksonville region is growing significantly as a hub for financial services companies from across the globe due to our business-friendly climate and the highly skilled talent needed to be successful,” said Wallace at JAXUSA, the economic development division of JAX Chamber.

TD Bank says it is one of the 10 largest banks in the U.S., providing more than 9.6 million customers with a full range of retail, small business and commercial banking products and services at more than 1,100 locations throughout the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, Metro D.C., the Carolinas and Florida.

It also offers vehicle financing and dealer commercial services through TD Auto Finance.

TD Bank is headquartered in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. It is a member of TD Bank Group and a subsidiary of The Toronto-Dominion Bank of Toronto, Canada, a top 10 financial services company in North America.

“To have one of the nation’s ten largest banks with more than 150 years of experience recognize our community’s potential is a tremendous vote of confidence in the future growth of our city,” Curry said in the release.

Miceli said he could confirm that TD will fully renovate the space over the next several months. The bank targets spring 2022 for occupancy.

He said TD Bank has not requested economic incentives from the city or the state.

The city is reviewing a building permit application for TD Bank’s “Jacksonville Contact Center” at Deerwood North. Plans show work on part of the first and on the full third floor at a construction cost of $4.8 million.

Deerwood North comprises two five-story office buildings built in 1999 and 2001.

Vanderbilt Office Properties manages the properties. Victor Hughes represents Vanderbilt.
