The city issued a permit July 15 for Amazon.com to install the conveyor system to its sortation center under construction in AllianceFlorida at Cecil Commerce Center.
MHS Company Inc. of Kentucky is the contractor for the $9.2 million job to install conveyors, sortation equipment, electrical equipment, controls and the associated supports in the parcel sort facility.
The 278,237-square-foot facility is under construction at 13450 Waterworks St. at southwest POW-MIA Memorial Parkway and Waterworks Street.
Amazon, the Seattle-based e-commerce retailer, has 12 identified but not all confirmed area locations open, under development or shown on plans.
Hillwood Senior Vice President Dan Tatsch said previously the building could be completed in the third or fourth quarter.
The city approved construction March 17 for the cross-dock center at a cost of $40.4 million.
It follows a Jan. 22 foundation permit at a construction cost of $2.7 million.
The Conlan Co. is the contractor.
Amazon.com says sortation centers are “midmile” facilities in which the company sorts customer orders by ZIP codes before handing off to partners for final delivery.
