Jacksonville-based First Coast Energy L.L.P. bought a Southpoint building and is preparing for interior demolition toward what plans indicate are corporate offices.

First Coast Energy, now leasing space at 7014 A.C. Skinner Parkway, No. 290, bought a 37,850-square-foot office building at 6867 Southpoint Drive N.

First Coast Energy L.L.P. paid $3.025 million for the property May 14.

First Coast Energy representatives did not immediately respond to emails and calls for comment. The company bought the single-story building, developed in 1991, on 4.8 acres from South State Bank, a successor by merger to CenterState Bank.

CenterState assumed the property in a deed in lieu of foreclosure in March 2020.

First Coast Energy applied to the city for a permit to demolish the interior nonstructural components, including walls and the ceiling, at a cost of $63,000.

C.&.R. General Contractors Inc. of Jacksonville is the contractor for the demolition.

A demolition notice refers to the project as “First Coast Energy Corporate.”

First Coast Energy, led by President and CEO Aubrey Edge, is probably best known by Northeast Florida customers for its Daily’s gas station and convenience store chain, which its website says started in 1997.

The dailys.com site says First Coast Energy owns 37 Daily’s stores in Jacksonville, St. Augustine, Gainesville and Broward County.

Those are part of the much larger number of First Coast Energy stations that sell Shell gasoline.

For example, as of 2016, First Coast Energy operated more than 200 Shell stations, including 33 Daily’s, in Florida and North Carolina.

Edge also is president of Petro Distributing Inc., which was created in 1994 is based with First Coast Energy.

In addition, it operates The Daily’s Foundation to support Northeast Florida charities.

First Coast Energy also is the title sponsor of the Daily’s Place Amphitheater next to TIAA Bank Field. As a Jacksonville Jaguars Jamboree partner, it has three Daily’s locations in the stadium.
