Covius Holdings Inc., led by former EverBank Financial Corp. leaders Rob Clements and John Surface, is preparing to build-out and improve space at its local offices on the 16th floor of Wells Fargo Center Downtown.

Clements is chairman and CEO of Covius. Surface is president and COO.

Dav-Lin Interior Contractor Inc. is the contractor for the estimated $119,836 project to renovate 4,650 square feet of space in suite 1660 of the tower at 1 Independent Drive W.

Covius Holdings, based in Denver, provides technology to financial companies. It says its businesses provide credit and verification services, tax tracking, quality assurance, regulatory compliance and other services.

Its principal investor is Aquiline Capital Partners, a $5.4 billion New York and London-based private equity firm that invests in financial services and technology.

A spokesman said June 13 that Covius “is building out a larger, but still modest, office because the current team has outgrown its original space.”

Build-out plans indicate tenant improvement to more than a dozen offices, a conference room and open office space.

Clements and Surface joined Denver-based LenderLive Holdings Inc., a mortgage services provider, in 2017 with the same titles they have at Covius.

State records show Covius Services LLC is based in the Denver suburb of Glendale, Colorado.

In October 2018, LenderLive Holdings, the parent company of LenderLive Services, LenderLive Network and Require Holdings, announced it was rebranding as Covius Holdings.

Clements retired from EverBank after TIAA completed its acquisition of the Jacksonville-based banking company in June 2017.

TIAA merged its banking subsidiary into EverBank, with the headquarters of the combined bank remaining in Jacksonville.

Clements joined EverBank in 1994 and served as chairman and CEO since 1997. Surface joined in 1994 and served as senior executive vice president.
