Memorial Healthcare Group Inc. is renovating the closed Soul Food Bistro at southwest Kernan and Atlantic boulevards into a women’s health center.

The building, at 11876 Atlantic Blvd., is next to a Memorial Emergency Center.

The city issued a permit April 30 for Auld & White Constructors LLC to renovate almost 6,500 square feet for what plans call the Atlantic Women’s Center at a cost of $1.5 million.

TM Partners PLLC of Lakewood Ranch is the project architect.

A Memorial spokesperson could not be reached immediately.

Landlord Triple Net Equities Ltd., led by developer Peter Sleiman, bought the 1.42-acre site in August 2019.

Potter’s House Soul Food Bistro II opened Jan. 1, 2013, in the building, a former O’Charley’s, as the second location for the Potter’s House restaurant.

Potter’s House relocated in early 2019 to Regency Park in the former Outback Steakhouse when the lease was up.

Memorial Women’s Health is on the main hospital campus at 3627 University Blvd. S., Suite 200.

Memorialwomenshealth.com says its women’s health services range from birth control to robotic surgery.

“At Memorial Women’s Health, our goal is to provide continuous quality health care for individuals from the adolescent through menopausal stages of life,” says the site.

The city also is reviewing a permit for a $75,000 site-work project.

The new project, which is in the Southside/East Arlington area, creates medical synergy.

Memorial built a free-standing emergency department at 11850 Atlantic Blvd. and opened there in July 2014.

Memorial Hospital is part of Nashville-based HCA Inc.
