St. Johns County issued a permit May 6 for Publix Super Markets Inc. to build its second area GreenWise Market.
Hawkins Construction Inc. of Tarpon Springs is the contractor for the $4.2 million project to build the shell structure of the 38,500-square-foot GreenWise at 170 Village Commons Drive in Parkway Village at St. Johns.
Interior build-out will be permitted separately.
Parkway Village is at Florida 16 and International Golf Parkway in World Commerce Center in St. Augustine. Jacksonville-based Cantrell & Morgan Inc. is jointly developing the project with Stiles Corp. of Fort Lauderdale.
GreenWise is Publix’s specialty, natural and organic store brand.
Publix opened its first Northeast Florida GreenWise Market in June in Nocatee Town Center.
GreenWise Market announced in October 2019 it would open in 2021 in World Commerce Center in St. Augustine.
The permitted store is more than 13,300 square-feet larger than the initially reviewed project, which was 25,147 square feet.
A site plan shows GreenWise anchoring what previously was called the Shoppes at World Commerce Center, near World Golf Village and Murabella.
The Cantrell & Morgan commercial real estate company includes a flyer for Parkway Village at St. Johns on its website.
As with the Nocatee project, the GreenWise is near an existing full-size Publix Super Market.
Publix operates across Florida 16 at Shoppes at Murabella.
St. Johns County also issued a permit for Hawkins Construction to build a 10,175-square-foot shell retail building at 150 Village Commons Drive next to GreenWise at a cost of $1.3 million.
