Wawa’s new Arlington site can be cleared.

The city issued a permit Nov. 21 for ELEV8 Land Clearing & Demolition to demolish the structures and parking lots at 1331 University Blvd. N. at a cost of $94,600.

The site has been fenced for some time.

Wawa Florida LLC bought the site in March 2020.

Wawa Florida LLC paid $3 million for the 1.9-acre site at northeast University Boulevard North and Arlington Road to build a gas station and convenience store.

Wawa bought the property from six sellers who each owned parcels that the company assembled for the deal.

Wawa is demolishing the buildings, totaling almost 15,000 square feet, to develop the gas station and convenience store with 16 fueling stations.

The city has been reviewing permit applications for construction of a 6,202-square-foot building and 7,150-square-foot canopy at a total construction cost of almost $1.1 million.

The site is near the closed Walgreens store that is being converted into a ChenMed medical center.
