Winn-Dixie adding taproom at Ponte Vedra Beach store

The “sip and stroll” is the third for parent company Southeastern Grocers in Northeast Florida.

Winn-Dixie scheduled a grand opening Sept. 8 for its remodeled store, including a WDs Taproom, at 290 Solana Road in Ponte Vedra Beach.

It includes new facade signage and colors and updated produce, bakery, meat and seafood departments; a deli with cafe seating and grab-and-go items; improved self-checkout lanes; and an updated in-store pharmacy.

The new WDs Taproom offers customers beer and wine to “sip and shop.”

The grand-opening ceremony is 7:45 a.m. Sept. 8. The community events continue Friday and Sunday with giveaways and entertainment.

St. Johns County issued a permit for parent company Southeastern Grocers to renovate the Winn-Dixie grocery store in Ponte Vedra Beach at a cost of $917,906. Williams & Rowe Co. Inc. is the contractor.

Jacksonville-based Southeastern Grocers has WDs Taprooms in eight Winn-Dixies, including three in Northeast Florida in Ponte Vedra Beach, Neptune Beach and Point Meadows.

It opened the first in its system in January 2019 in Neptune Beach.

The others are in Gainesville, Melbourne, Lake Mary, Miramar Beach and Key Biscayne.

Southeastern Grocers also is launching stand-alone liquor stores.

It opened its first separate WDs Wine, Beer & Liquor on Sept. 1 in Jacksonville at 4472 Hendricks Ave., between San Marco and Lakewood. It is 8,640 square feet.
